The Life of the Mind
Pacati’s next album is made entirely of music that’s been in development for thirty years (as with Pagan, Election Night, Into the Star Bowl, and Farm on Our New Happy Life). The Life of the Mind is basically done except for two songs, but those songs have a long way to go as of September 2024. “Into the Star Bowl” (Our New Happy Life) was an intermittent production for three years. We’ve been happy with the way that 1990s composition ended up and we want to be just as happy with The Life of the Mind.
The album will be ready in 2025. It’s been a very long slog with this album so far, but – to our ears – it’s our best work.
During this delay, you can try the Omega Edition of Ye Olde Pacati (mixed in 2021). Limited time only, void where prohibited, no purchase necessary, no animals were harmed, and so on.
Why did we wait so long to produce “The Good Stuff”?
When you spend thirty years preparing for a task, you want to make sure you’re adequately proficient with the tools before you begin. Nearly everything from 2015-2022 was “just for practice.” We needed to learn how to use new sound editing software (Pacati 5 & Book of Distractions), a new synthesizer (Pacati Demisinterpretates The Beatles), and new composition software (Zen & the Art of Ferret Management 2). With the remaining modern compositions (first half of Our New Happy Life) and a love letter to John P. Hegyes (Wet Life Crisis) out of the way, we’re deep into the old stuff now: the good stuff.
There’s enough material to produce two full albums of good stuff, with The Life of the Mind being the first. Hopefully they can be completed before we stop giving a shit.
